HOLY WEEK
The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday - April 1st. We will gather outside of the church at 9:00 a.m. to process into the service joyfully. The tone turns, however, as we hear of Jesus’ betrayal and crucifixion. Holy Week begins today.
Tuesday, April 3rd - the Holy Eucharist, with the Renewal of Ordination vows, and the blessing of the Oils of Healing and Chrismation (Baptism) is held at All Souls Cathedral, Asheville at 11 a.m.. This is for all clergy ad people of the diocese.
Wednesday, April 4th - Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m.
Maundy Thursday, April 5th - 7 p.m. - As a sign of servanthood we include the washing of feet. Following the liturgy, the altar is stripped, and the Parish Hall is transformed into a chapel. People may observe a vigil there, keeping watch in the night as Jesus did with his disciples at Getsemane.
Good Friday, April 6th. this day marks the crucifixion of our Lord. We do not celebrate the Eucharist on this day, but rather at noon share a holy meal from the reserved Sacrament. We gather, with member of the other three churches in Morganton, at Grace Church at noon for the Liturgy of Good Friday.
Holy Saturday, April 7th - Holy Saturday is a day of rest and quiet.
Easter Day, April 8th - the fire is kindled; darkness is dispelled. We celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection at 9 a.m. Following the Festive Eucharist, we will gather for a reception and Easter Brunch (covered dish) in the Parish Hall at 10:15 a.m.
